Presenter: Mr. Dr. S. Malik
Dr. Malik joined as the head, thoracic cancer therapeutics in the Clinical Investigations Branch of the Cancer Therapy Evaluation (CTEP) program of the NCI in 2013. She continues with her clinical activities at the NCI thoracic oncology clinic. Dr. Malik’s area of focus is in treatment of patients with lung cancer and development of new markers and therapeutic options for lung cancer. Prior to joining NCI, she was the scientific lead for the thoracic oncology for the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) branch at the Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, she was an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at the Georgetown University Hospital from October 2001-2009. She served as the Chief of Center for Thoracic Oncology and was the Director of Multi-Disciplinary Thoracic Oncology Clinic at the Lombardi Cancer Center. In addition, she worked as an associate in Phase I program of the Drug and Developmental Therapeutics at the Lombardi Cancer Center. She is a graduate of The University of Kashmir, India. She completed her fellowship at The George Washington University and research with Human Genome project at the National Institutes of Health.
