Presenter: Mr. Dr. R. Sullivan

Richard Sullivan is Professor, Cancer Policy & Global Health at Kings College London and Director, Institute of Cancer Policy. He is on the executive board of KHP Cancer Centre & Union for International Cancer Control and co-Director of the King’s Conflict & Health Research Group. Richard qualified in medicine & trained in surgery (urology) before completing a PhD in cell signalling. He was clinical director of CR UK until 2008 before returning to academic medicine studying complex healthcare systems. His research programs focus on global cancer policy and conflict & health and include studies of the basic package of health services in Afghanistan, armed violence reduction as public health measure, intelligence, security & global health, civil-military co-operation & global health, and health intelligence in the Syrian conflict. In global cancer public policy he has led a number of major Lancet Commissions – affordability of cancer in high-income countries, global childhood cancer care, and most recently a major series on Health & Cancer in India. Richard is a Lancet Commissioner for Global Surgery, and lead of the Lancet Series on Women’s Equity, Health & Cancer and the Lancet Oncology Commission on Global Cancer Surgery.
